The CCGS Amundsen departed from Quebec City on July 26, 2013. It is heading north to do work in Labrador, Cumberland Sound, Baffin Bay and what we call the ‘North Water’ between Greenland and Ellesmere Island.
There will be a science and crew changeover in Resolute on September 5 after which the Amundsen will head through the Northwest Passage to the Beaufort Sea. A couple of weeks of work will be done there and the ship will zip back through the passage heading for home in Quebec City. In all, 12 weeks of science work will be completed this season.
